The Q woke up cranky this morning. It’s supposed to be warmer than this. But he got to the Patriot and found Ice Tea, Bogey, and Legacy, and started Chat Club and all that went away. We picked up Old Bay, Flipper and Flamingo for lap 2 and then it was time for Friday Fun. And it was a blast.

WARMUP: Merkin-themed warm up. We alternated sets of 5 merkins with SSH, Imperial Walkers, hillbillies, copperhead squats, strawberry pickers, willy mays hayes, Michael Phelps, and downward dog. We completed warmup with a 2-lane Ricky Bobby with the PAX in the back doing 3 burpees before catching the front.

THE THANG: We found ourselves at the wrong end of the field. I hate it when that happens. The only way to get back to the correct end zone was to mosey to the 25, do 10 burpees, mosey to the 50, do 10 kraken burpees, mosey to the other 25 for 10 BDE burpees, and mosey to the home end zone. So that’s what we did.

Next was Foura Dora. The PAX partnered up, then each team found a partner team for a group of 4. The exercises were 100 merkins, 200 monkey humpers (single count) and 100 big boy sit ups. One team did the exercises while the partner team did a wheelbarrow to the 10, flapjack the barrow, and came back as the timer. Most teams got into the sit ups but didn’t finish – the Q called it for time.

And finally, some F3 ultimate. Full-field, 10 on 10. There were some amazing displays of athleticism today. But not in this game.

For those doing the May Challenge, my math says:
40 merkins during warm-up, 3 during ricky bobby, 50 during the burpee show (3 per Kraken), 50 if you split the Dora evenly, 25 from Short Rib during Ultimate. That’s 168 plus whatever burpees we did during the game. Count of big boy situps varied by team. And I logged over a mile and a half running around, so count a mile as well.

MARY: Flutters, American hammers, dirty dog, mule kick, world’s greatest stretch

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Boneathon, Murph, dad’s camp, F2 at Solace next Wednesday

COT: Continuing the theme of Mental Health Awareness month, the Q reflected on how much it meant to have this group earlier this year when his sister passed away. And the leg up that we have by being active, and having people to talk to, including when things aren’t so good. Part of F3 is carrying the lessons we share out into our communities. So we talked about the impact you can have in the workplace. The advice is Notice. Talk. Act. We talked about some of the signs of depression and anxiety and trying to be aware of how your coworkers are doing. If you’re concerned, you should talk to them. Be a friend, and a good listener. And if you’re still worried about them, get help, you can usually find this at your workplace.
