CoT: As we lock shields this morning and I look ahead to turning 47 this Wednesday, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the mileage behind us and the terrain left to cover. We all know the cultural script for a guy hitting his late forties—the temptation to look back, panic about the passing years, and chase impulsive, rash distractions in a classic mid-life crisis. But the wisdom gathered in the first half of life teaches us that true leadership demands prudence. It’s about resisting those fleeting, reckless whims and instead anchoring ourselves deeper into our commitments to our families, our communities, and each other. The first half of life was about laying the foundation, making mistakes, and learning how to endure the grind; the second half is where we get to build the legacy. I am stepping into this next season not with apprehension, but with massive hope and anticipation for the impact, purpose, and depth still to come. Let’s keep sharpening each other, resisting the easy escapes, and leading with intention for the long haul.

YHC reflected on how age has changed his thinking about his father’s parenting. He is more understanding and aware of his own flaws and shortcomings, even if it is not always easy to see exactly what they are in the moment.

YHC is also grateful to the PAX who get things started & keep things going when he is running late.

COT:
As a father sometimes you think about doing the big things for your family.
But it’s not always about being a superhero, it’s about showing up, being consistent, being steady, and doing the small actions that make the difference.
