WARMUP: (see the Thang)
THE THANG:
0430 Rain 41F
Gathered on the Fire Access Road at the Lab
Put on our rucks, grabbed two 50lb sandbags and rucked to Station 1. Dropped off sandbags at Pulley Station and proceed. Dropped off rucks at the shelter.
Station1: Succession Strips (Legacy)
Warmup and COT
Pax then divided equally and picked a strip for Dora 1-2-3Performed 1 Burpee 2 Bonnie Blairs 3 Bobby Hurley while others Lungewalk to halfway point Repeato for time.
Ruck Loop 1: Pine Trail CW
It was dark AF and we lost the trail a couple times. Trails were single track strewn with rocks and fallen logs. The undulations quickly made the PAX feel the burn. This was not a stroll on neighborhood sidewalks.
Station 2 Phoebe Fields (SAAS)
Rucks on workout
Air Squats and Merkins
SAAS recited a poem appropriate for the sunrise
FNG ALICE sustained a hip injury and had to pull the plug early….Double Respect!.
Station 3 Pulleys (Rocketman)
Sandbag laps and pulley station relay.
COT
Ruck Loop 2 Biscuit Trail CW
Rain kept coming down and we were becoming accepting of the cold and wet state of existence. This loop killed YHC’s quads with a rapid ascent to the top of Biscuit mountain.
08:30 Rain 43F
Station 4 Temp Platforms (Nano)
Warmups to greet new arrivals
Pax split into two groups
Each group was tied with carabiners and moved as a unit to the platforms to perform exercises as a unit.
When crossing the bridge, rucks stayed tied and were rifle carried over. Two rounds completed
Ruck Loop 3 Pine Trail CCW
Same struggle as before but in reverse order plus now we could actually see, so it was a brand new experience.
Station 5 Field of Wheels (Magoo)
Field had three 5-diameter wooden wheels with ropes thru the axles. Circle, Hexagon, a Square wheel. Two Pax with wheel in tow to race and perform one full lap around the field…the catch? Remaining Pax who were not on a particular wheel were tasked with slowing down anyone in the lead to ensure the race was a tie….somewhat successful. Despite what history and physics has taught us,, the square wheel won.
Station 6 Quarter Mile Road (Juneau)
He Sees Me
Split into two groups and at opposite ends of the road and raced to the center. Like an indian run half of each group ran 5 sec toward the center then went prone. Other Pax then ran ahead 5 sec and went prone. Repeato to the cone at the center.
Ruck Loop 4 Biscuit Trail CCW
Once again, a nice steep ascent and burning quads. At this point conversations dwindled as the looming end was near. Our thoughts must have been on sandwiches, a tasty beverage, and dry shirt.
Station 7 Amphitheater (Stewie)
Dumped the rucks I to a pile and to ensure full expenditure of our calves, YHC led the final Q starting out with Motivators (essentially 144 SSH). Then PAX planked shoulder to shoulder adjacent to the ruck pile and passed rucks thru the plank tunnel and back to reform the original pile of rucks. Flip over onto our backs and passed the rucks in a similar fashion.
COT
Rucked back to the Startex for sandwiches, tasty beverages, and dry shirts.
