THE THANG:
Haymarket Day was attended by roughly 35,000 people and over 250 venders this year in Haymarket, VA. The Gainesville/Haymarket PAX used this opportunity to being awareness of F3’s presence to the area by entering into the annual parade.

We met at the QBE lot with Jeep and trailer to begin setup and decorating around 8:15ish.
Slowly PAX rolled in until about 9:45 and we finished decorating in time to get a solid POL pic before we pulled-out.

We had a 5×10 trailer filled with hay bales and 2.0’s. The trailer was deorated with F3 signage, pumpkins, and a “welcome great pumpkin” sign for our them, the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin.

The jeep (courtesy of Double Tap ) had 3ft Snoopy sleeping on the roof and a large decorative pumpkin on the hood and QR code to the capital web site.

With the Jeep in neutral, all this was in tow by 4 rotating PAX pulling with tow straps. It was awesome to hear the awe from the crowd. The pull really wasnt that strenuous once it got rolling.

Leading the entire F3 procession was a gigantic very professional F3 banner designed and provided by Trifecta. This was held up by two PAX.

YHC brought 1000 customized F3 business cards to be passed out. Everyone including the 2.0s grabbed a stack of F3 business cards and wrote in personal contact info to be distributed. It seems that the donuts gave the 2.0’s the right amount of sugar because collectively we distributed between 500-750 business cards hand-to-hand to the spectators along the 0.8 mile pull through the vendor corridor.

At the end of the pull it was a quick disassemble, a final POL, and fistbumps before we split. Everyone has a busy and full weekend and it was great to have everyone carve time out of our morning to make this outreach a success.

Looking forward to a report from the SLT to see if any uptick on F3the Capital website.

A google photo folder was shared on the pax-on-parade page just preceding this backblast. Everyone is adding photos. If you have trouble accessing or adding reach out to Rocketman.

Lastly, thanks Nano for making the trek out and representing the greater region. It definitely helped reinforce that we doing this as part of something much bigger.

While this is fresh on your mind by all that attended, we need your constructive feedback. YHC had no idea what this was going to become or how to even begin this event. While I think this went well, there is ALWAYS something to improve. Please chine in with ideas how this could have been better and how to improve for next time.

Here’s mine:
It would have been better if more guys show up and we all stuck around for some 2nd F time (eg beer garden) afterward to continue the fellowship and EHing the crowds.

COT:
YHC flew out Friday to attend the third funeral I’ve gone to in the last two months. These are all mothers of people close to me and they come from different backgrounds and walks of life, but in the end each of them came to the same end. What mattered was the legacy of loving people they left behind, not their accolades and accomplishments (or lack thereof), in a worldly sense. The lesson is to consider our legacy and realize in the end what matters is how we impact people through our choices to put them first. The challenge is for us as men to go everyday and intentionally seek out ways to love people concretely and leave that kind of legacy.

COUNT: 12
EC: Speed Ruck; almost to Roosevelt Island and back, Unfortunately Neither the International Rucking Association or Guinness Book of World Records sent representatives, so our record time will be lost to history.
WARMUP: SSH, Imperial Walker, Hill Billy, Little Bitty Arm Circles, Willy Mays Hayes, Michael Phelps, RVE, Moroccan Night Club, Downward Dog, WGS
THE THANG: 1) go to turf field and do a small Dora, 25 burpees, 50 merkins, 75 LBCs, then break into teams based on whether the letter total of your F3 name is odd or even; for 2) games of tic-tac-toe, PAX must run down to the board and place either a ball (designed to roll away and thus undermine the team forced to play with them) or cones; 2 merkins after you place on the board and run back; we played three games of this; then 3) FOOTSKI BALL–pretty solid match overall and teams were close for a while; great counter-attack for the coneheads topped off with a Beagle score; but the Alabama Combo on the other team was unstoppable as the game went on, particularly with Cam just absolutely coming off his chain at the end he was like a combo Cooper Kupp/Luka Doncic. MARY: N/A
ANNOUNCEMENTS: There’s an art to FNG naming. It’s not just a bunch of guys in a circle coming up with a random quasi-insulting nickname. Well, yeah, I guess that is, in fact, what it is. But it’s awesome! Welcome Sanchez! GRUNT 11/9 OLD RAG 10/26–you need a ticket for Old Rag.
COT: Life and the Human Body are not linear systems. You can go a long time without signs of progress, doesn’t mean you aren’t making progress.

COT: We talked about what it takes to do big challenges. Everybody says they want to walk the Appellation Trail. Doing it is another thing. Most people fail day one. What you need to do ahead of grand adventures is really prepare and take smaller tasks first to see if, for example, you don’t mind pooping in the woods or carrying a lot of food. We need to assess what something really takes and train/ prepare properly.
