THE THANG
PAX broke up into 2 groups. Each team took turns picking a state out of a hat and recorded how many electoral votes that state provides. The PAX from both teams did the exercise required. The exercise rubric is 1-6 electoral votes: Blockees
7-11 electoral votes: Overhead press
12-29 electoral votes: Chest Press
30+ electoral votes: Goblet Squats

For this run of the F3 Estimator C of Election Shenanigans (FECES) model, red jumped out to an early lead, but blue was able to capture California, Texas and Florida, ending the count with a commanding lead of 270 to 169 after only 20 rounds.

MARY
F3 Supreme Court said we were out of time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The Grunt – Saturday Nov 9, 7am, meet at the Lincoln Memorial – today is the last day to order an F3 shirt / sweatshirt.

COT
Politics has become very divisive and toxic. The MSM and social media have been amplifying and thriving on this division, with each side imputing evil motives to every action the other side takes. Fortunately there is more that unites us than divides us and YHC is trying to find those areas of common ground.

My hope and prayer during these next couple of weeks and in the weeks and months afterwards, is that we can all find some way to tone down the rhetoric, acknowledge the good and bad in both sides and build-on the common ground that we share.

This workout consists of all the movements of a burpee, but isolated and stretched out, except at the end when we do actual burpees. AMRAP:

thesandlot F3 Bocci Ball and Games

AO: thesandlot
Q: Jenner
PAX: Gherkin, Lucius, Legacy, Boardwalk, AI, Klinger, Popeye, Big Short, Spud, Strange Brew, Defiance FNGs: None
COUNT: 12
WARMUP: SSH, WMH, Imperial Walkers, Cherry Pickers, Moroccan Nightclub, Michael Phelps.

THE THANG: Mosey over to Hayes Park and perform the following:

Step ups: x20
Box jumps: x20
Dips: x20
Archer Erkins: x20 each side

1st Rule – Audible Exercise. When the audible captain yells, “LMA!”, PAX stops what they are doing and performs the following led by the audible captain. At the end of the audible exercise, the captain names another PAX who then becomes the audible captain.

LBC: x10
Merkins: x10
Air squats: x10

Also, whenever the Q is giving instructions, the PAX is recommended to perform calf raises while they listen. Why just wait around? But oh boy, the things to remember are starting to accumulate.

Mosey over the turf field. YHC introduces the other audible option, “Pullups!”, PAX stops what they are doing and finds a pull up bar.

Pullups: x10 (typically broken up into 2 sets of 5)

Split up into two teams, odds and evens. Mosey through the cones one PAX from each team to set up for a race. Red cones and multi-colored cones are set up as an out and return path and YHC describes how boats use channel markers by keeping the red on the right when returning. This goes over about as well as you would expect. Mumble chatter ensues and the audible captain yells, “LMA” as soon as it’s over.

2nd Rule is introduced – Rest Exercise. At any time the PAX is idle, they can perform 5 burpees and 5 no-cheat air-squats performed as an air squat touching the ground in front and then falling back onto your hands and lifting your feet slightly off the ground. Some PAX let it be known that they hope the IPC never picks this one up.

The two teams prepare for bear crawl bocci races. The odds team sets up the cones while the even team performs the Rest Exercise.

3rd Rule is introduced – Ball in Motion Exercise. Whenever a bocci ball is in motion, the team in the lead performs SSH while the other team performs Star Jumps until the ball stops. YHC hopes this provides some motivation as well as keep the heart rate up while playing a game as a distraction.

The bear crawl bocci race commences as a member from each team roll a bocci ball through the cones out and back and then pass the ball on to a teammate. The odds team with the green ball win the first race. The audible captain yells, “LMA!” A pattern is beginning to emerge of calling the audible at the end of an activity. Teams flip flop and while the evens team sets up the cones for a new race course, the odds team perform the Rest Exercise. The course at first aims to be nothing but zig zags, but then they course correct and swap the cones to make a perfectly straight course. YHC wonders if this small boating tip of red on the right when returning will prevent a crash on the water one day. The team members get confused what team they’re on, they just want to bear crawl fast while rolling a bocci ball apparently. Maybe the evens team won?? Who cares, “LMA!” Is called so we do that and we’re on to the next event.

F3 Bocci – Evens team tosses the while ball out towards the middle of the turf field and odds team tosses the first bocci ball. Odds team is in the lead so they are doing SSH while the others do Star Jumps. Next toss by the evens team gets closer so the Star Jumpers flip flop. Odds team wins it by a hair. “LMA!” White ball is tossed out again and more SSH and Star Jumps are performed. Odds team wins it with a clutch roll at the end. “LMA!” White ball is tossed for a 3rd game and evens team win it with a clutch roll at the end. “Pullups!”

F3 Bocci Battleship – Evens team sets up 6 cones, no 8 cones on one half of the field and Odds team sets up 8 cones on the other half. Each team is allowed to throw a bocci ball “missile” from wherever they have a standing cone. Bocci balls are rolled “fired” onto the other team’s battlefield. After many confusing SSH and Star Jumps – because who can tell who is leading in the fog of war – the current audible captain yells “Pullups!” The teams return to the battle field to see the evens team crushing the odds team with only one evens cone left, a singlular green cone in the back right side. With time running out, the evens team is given 3 balls to fire. Big Short comes up clutch with the last throw knocking the cone down. Quick celebration follows and then it’s over. Time for Mary.

MARY: Flutter kicks, American Hammers, and Boats and Canoes. Then, one final round of the Rest Exercise primarily to hear the mumble chatter again.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Nov. 9 Veteran’s Day CSAUP, the Grunt. F3 T-shirt orders ends Nov. 4.

COT: When you lead and need to communicate complex plans to others, try to have a framework and break it down into simpler steps. YHC attempted to do break things down. YHC attempted to make the small sets of instructions simple. YHC was probably not effective if his goals. But as we all try to better ourselves and become more effective leaders for others in our community and at work and in teams, we need to continue to try to improve and get feedback and listen to it. In trying hard things and breaking it down to communicate in small pieces and listening to the feedback, we can endeavor to improve and become better leaders.
