THE THANG:
Under clear skies and 18 degree weather, Popeye led 15 HIM in a very measured set of 50 burpees to get the blood flowing. The PAX then departed for The Patriot, the longest leg of the day.
Upon arrival at the Patriot, Citrus wasted no time adding to our burpee total, first leading 14 of us with a ring of fire and then following it up with… a ring of fire. He then threw everyone a curve with, wait for it, a ring of fire. He finally tired of such a reasonable pace and switched to 11s, consisting of burpees and air presses. With only a few burpees remaining, he went back to the old standby, the ring of fire.
CG had the Q next and he started before leaving the grounds of the Patriot. In an AMBAB first, burpees were added as part of the run to the next AO, with the PAX completing about 50 before arriving at Horizon. At Horizon the PAX showed demonstrated their ball handling skills, on the basketball court, and did 5 burpees after each pax took a shot. Next thing you knew, the burpees for horizon were complete.
The pax departed horizon and made the climb up Minor’s Hill. Lazlo took a page from CG’s playbook and had the pax perform burpees along the way. Upon reaching the summit, the pax were treated to some cornhole spray painted on the snow (luckily not with white spray paint). After every throw, the pax performed a burpee. It was all fun and games until we reached 350 burpees and it was time to move on.
The run to Terrapin Station was all downhill, with Legacy choosing the route. At TP, the pax staked out a prime spot in the sun and did a burpee EMOM, with 5 burpees at the top of every minute fit 20 minutes. That got the PAX to 450 burpees for the day.
The only thing standing between the pax and legacy’s breakfast burritos was a run back to ignite and 55 burpees. YHC led the group back to ignite, choosing the most direct route over the safest route, Fortunately all made it back and were treated to an efficient final set of 11s, consisting of a Mary-adjacent American Hammer, burpees and no running. The Pax completed burpee 505 at approximately 10:09, having also travelled about 7 miles. Good work!
MARY: HA!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: cafeteria upstairs immediately following with burritos provided by Chef Legacy.
– COT: Despite their name, CSAUPs aren’t pointless even if you don’t immediately know the point. AMBAB started because Traveler fell behind on his monthly challenge and convinced others to do something utterly stupid with him so he could catch up. Keep coming up with stupid ideas, you never know where they will lead. Doing hard things shows that we’re taking personal improvement seriously and as the first CSAUP of 2025, doing this demonstrates that we are AOs serious about improving in 2025. Don’t fear hard things, they often aren’t as hard as you think they will be.
